ATTENTION! Before initiating a transfer for .COM, .NET, .ORG, etc. domains, be sure to read the following points carefully, as failure to do so may result in an unsuccessful transfer.
1. To start a domain transfer, the domain must be at least 60 days old, i.e., 60 days must have passed since the initial registration.
2. Since by default the aforementioned domains are locked, for a successful transfer the domain must be unlocked in the current registrar’s system. You can check the domain data (WHOIS info) via the Beehosting website. Open the option “See who owns the domain” and the lock status will show as: Status: Locked or Status: ClientTransferProhibited.
.eu domains
Such a status prevents any attempt to transfer the domain from one registrar to another. You can change the domain status in the current registrar’s system if you have the proper access. If the domain was registered by another person or service provider, you must contact them to unlock the domain. Once unlocked, the WHOIS system will show the status as OK.
3. Make sure the domain’s administrative contact email address is active, as important emails about the transfer will be sent there. If your domain uses data protection or private registration, we recommend checking the email’s validity with your provider or temporarily disabling the privacy service.
NB! The domain will be locked for 60 days if the registrant’s (owner’s) contact details are changed in the current registrar’s system. Administrative contact information can be changed without locking the domain.
4. To start the transfer, you need the domain’s authorization code (EPP or AUTH code). Different registrars may refer to this code differently, and code lengths vary, but the purpose is the same. You can obtain the code through the current registrar’s system (if you have access) or request it from the person or provider who registered the domain.
Once the domain is unlocked and you’ve received the authorization code and started the transfer on Beehosting’s website, an email in English containing a confirmation link will be sent to the domain’s administrative contact (as per WHOIS records).
If the administrative contact clicks the confirmation link (at www.transfer-approval.com) and consents to the transfer, the domain will be transferred under Beehosting’s management and will appear in your domain panel within 5–7 business days from the moment of confirmation.
NB! Depending on their terms, your current registrar might also require a separate confirmation. So be sure to read all related emails carefully after initiating the transfer, or the transfer may fail.
Also, pay attention to these critical points:
You cannot initiate a transfer for domains that:
– Have already expired
– Expire in less than a week
– Were registered less than 60 days ago
– Are locked in the current registrar’s system
