Email Restrictions

Last modified: Thursday June 19th, 2025
  • Email sending limitation

Only one email per second is allowed via our outgoing (SMTP) server and webmail. If the limit is exceeded, sending will be automatically blocked. To remove the restriction, please contact customer support.

  • Spam (SPAM)

Sending spam through our servers is strictly prohibited. We consider spam to be any promotional email that the recipient did not explicitly subscribe to.

We follow the Law of Obligations Act of the Republic of Estonia, which states: “§ 60. Restrictions on the use of communication means: An offer may be sent to the consumer’s fax and telephone answering machine or email address only with the consumer’s prior consent. Other personal communication means may be used unless the consumer has expressly prohibited their use.”

  • Email size limitation

The maximum size of incoming mail including headers is 20 MiB. The maximum size of outgoing mail via our servers is also up to 20 MiB. Note the 30% attachment growth rule—attachments increase in size by ~30% in transit. Example: Adding a 10 MiB attachment results in an email size of approximately ~13 MiB.

NB! When sending from webmail, the max attachment size is 10 MiB (total message content plus attachment cannot exceed 20 MiB). Other providers’ servers may block large messages, and antivirus software might have difficulty analyzing them.

  • Mailbox size limitation

Mailbox size can be configured in the Zone server management environment. It can be set when creating a new address and modified later. Max size depends on the virtual server package in use.

ATTENTION: Emails cannot include attachments with the following extensions: bas, bat, com, cpl, crt, dll, exe, js, jse, lnk, msc, msi, pif, reg, scr, vb, vbe, vbs, vbx, vxd, wsc, wsf, wsh. Such messages are blocked by the server. Most viruses today spread through executable attachments. If you need to send such files, compress them first using ZIP or RAR.

Do not open emails with suspicious attachments. Consider whether the sender had a reason to send such a file. If in doubt, call the sender to confirm.
