EU domain expiration

Last modified: Thursday June 19th, 2025

Upon expiration of a .EU domain, a 40-day quarantine period begins during which the domain registrant can reactivate it.

ATTENTION! During quarantine, the domain is not active, meaning the website and email addresses associated with the domain will not work.

If the .EU domain is not reactivated, it will be released after 40 days and made available for registration by anyone, based on the principle “first come, first served”.

Restoring expired international domains is subject to a fee. Restoring a .EU domain from quarantine costs 69 euros. The recovery fee for other international domains is 79 euros.
