If a domain registration is not renewed, the domain will expire and the Estonian Internet Foundation will begin the domain deletion process. The deletion proceeds in stages:
expire – the registration expires on this date, but the website and email still function
outzone – the domain’s nameservers stop responding, and the website and email cease functioning
delete – the domain is deleted and a new registrant can register it on a “first come, first served” basis.
During the first 15 days after expiration, the website and email still work. In the following 30 days, they are no longer accessible. During this 45-day period, the owner can still reactivate the domain and extend the registration by one year. After the 15 + 30 days, the domain is deleted, and in the final 24 hours before deletion, it enters quarantine.
If you pay the invoice via our system using a bank link or credit card, the payment is registered within 15 minutes, and your website and email will resume within a few hours. If you pay via traditional bank transfer, the payment appears in the system within a couple of business days (depending on interbank processing speed). When paying by transfer, be sure to include the reference number and specify the domain name and invoice number in the details.
ATTENTION! If the domain has already expired, it can only be renewed for one year upon reactivation.
