This article describes how to configure Web Disk accounts. After setting up a Web Disk account, you can use it to access your web files.
Creating a Web Disk account
You must create a Web Disk account before accessing files remotely using Web Disk.
Please follow these steps to create a Web Disk account:
- Log in to cPanel.
- Click Web Disk in the FILES section of the cPanel home screen:
- Type the username in the Username text box under Create an Additional Web Disk Account.
- Type the password in the New Password text box.
- Retype the password in the Password text box.
If you click Password Generator cPanel generates a strong, random password for you.
- In the Directory text box, cPanel automatically fills the user’s Web Disk directory based on the username you entered in step 3. If you want to change the directory, enter the name of the directory you want to use in this text box.
- The default permissions for a directory are full read/write access. Click Read-Only to grant the user read permissions only.

You must enable digest authentication if you’re using Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 and want to use an unencrypted Web Disk connection.
